from Asia to Canada Rate Increase |
|
(Toronto, April 26, 2002)...
Transpacific container lines serving the trade lane from
Asia to Canada have announced a General Rate Increase (GRI)
to offset current depressed rate levels. Carriers in the
Canada Transpacific Stabilization Agreement (CTSA) are adopting
these increases to reverse sharp revenue declines seen during
the past year.
Effective May 1, 2002 rates will be increased
by:
| |
US $300 per 20 FT Containers |
| |
US $400 per 40 FT Containers |
| |
US $450 per 40 FT High
Cube Containers |
| |
US $505 per 45 FT Containers |
The CSTA believes there is a very real
and urgent need to restore rates to compensatory levels
if carriers are to continue to offer the choice and high
level of service available to Canadian shippers. As a result
further phased increases are being proposed for the remainder
of 2002, with the objective of gradual trade recovery.
