from Asia to Canada Rate Increase |
|
(Toronto, Aug. 7, 2002)...
Transpacific container lines serving the trade lane from
Asia to Canada have announced implementation of the third
phase of the General Rate Increase (GRI) to offset current
depressed rate levels. Carriers in the Canada Transpacific
Stabilization Agreement (CTSA) are adopting this additional
increase to further reverse steep declines in revenue seen
during the past year.
Effective Aug 15, 2002 rates will be increased
by:
| |
US $225 per 20 FT Containers |
| |
US $300 per 40 FT Containers |
| |
US $340 per 40 FT High
Cube Containers |
| |
US $380 per 45 FT Containers |
| |
US $11 per metric ton |
| |
US $6 per cubic meter |
As with the May
1 and July 15, 2002 increases, the CSTA believes there continues
to be a very real and urgent need to restore rates to compensatory
levels if carriers are to continue to offer the choice and
high level of service available to Canadian shippers.
