(Toronto, March 3, 2003)...
.Member lines of the Continental Canadian Westbound Freight
Conference and the Canadian North Atlantic Westbound Conference,
serving the Westbound market from Europe to Canada, have
announced a significant increase in the BAF (Fuel Surcharge).
Effective March 1, 2003, the following fuel surcharges
will be imposed by member steamship lines.
| |
US $159.00 per 20 FT
Container |
| |
US $318.00 per 40 FT
Container |
These charges will be applied to all FCL
traffic and will be passed directly to the consignee.
For LCL traffic, a fuel surcharge in the amount of US $8.00
w/m (minimum US $8.00) will be applied.
These charges will take effect on shipments sailing on
or after March 1, 2003, and will apply to all Northern European
ports, including the United Kingdom. We will continue
to review this situation to ensure the BAF is adjusted according
to market levels.
