rate increases, free time decreases |

(Toronto, October 29, 2003)… Effective
November 17th, the Canadian National Railway (CN) daily
storage charge on all import containers will increase to
$100, a $25 hike. In addition, the free time on import
containers will be reduced to two days from three days,
with weekends and holidays being chargeable days from the
time of grounding.
CN hopes the changes will prompt faster pickup of containers,
a necessary step to clear the backlog of containers that
has plagued the terminals in the last few months.
