| CN Plans to
recover Customs-related costs |
|
(Toronto, July 20, 2004)...
All shippers should be aware that they will be billed for
any charges CN incurs to accomplish customs clearance.
These charges include, but are not limited to, costs
for unloading, segregating, reloading and drayage. In addition, effective August 1, 2004, CN will bill
shippers $425 in cases where they must remove a shipment
from a train for Customs examination.
CN says the charges are necessary to recover costs related
to increased border security, and additional increases
will be announced in "the near future".
