| Import inspection services reorganized |
|
(Ottawa, July 8, 2005)... Import inspection services performed by The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) are undergoing changes that will begin in the Pacific and Prairie regions this month and then move across the country. Here are the changes:
- Inspection of CFIA regulated imported commodities will no longer be performed at ports of entry by CFIA inspectors, except under exceptional circumstances or where required by regulation (e.g. live animals), but will now be conducted at destination.
- All shipments requiring 100 per cent inspection will be accompanied by a Notice to Importer form (from the Western Import Service Centre), stating
the location address for inland movement and inspection. All other shipments are subject to random inspection by CFIA at destination.
