3000 shutdown means less cargo space |
|
(Toronto, November
9, 2001)... The sudden shutdown
of Canada 3000
today puts even more stress on the already weakened air
freight business. Immediate implications include less cargo
space, more pressure to increase costs, and longer lead
times to arrange air transport.
The cost increases will be on top of the
Security Surcharges imposed by airlines following the September
11 terrorist attacks, which led to a drastic cut in air
passenger traffic -- and a corresponding loss of air cargo
space.
Affected air shipments
should continue on schedule as arrangements have been made
to find alternative carriers for cargo previously handled
by Canada 3000.
