New York airports |
|
(New York,
November 12, 2001)... All
three New York airports (Kennedy, LaGuardia and Newark)
closed this morning following the crash of an American Airlines
A300 airbus enroute to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Kennedy was reopened to accommodate arrival of flights already
in the air. International and domestic flights destined
for New York have either been diverted or grounded.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. Aboard the
flight were 246 passengers and nine crew members. Casualties
are unknown.
All of New York's bridges and tunnels were initially closed
following the declaration of a Level One
alert in New York. They were subsequently reopened to outbound
traffic.
