dockworkers plan strike |

(Antwerp, Belgium, March 6,
2003)… Antwerp dockworkers
have announced plans for two 24-hour strikes to take place
on Friday March 7, 2003, commencing at 0600 hours, and Monday
March 10, 2003, commencing at 0600 hours.
European dockworker unions will also hold demonstrations
in Brussels on March 7, 2003 and in Strasbourg, France on
March 10, 2003. Labour protests are also expected at many
other European ports on these days, however strike announcements
have not been made.
These actions are once again in response to plans by the
European Commission to liberalize port operations.
