A strike at the Port of
Vancouver will not happen until at least August 21,
the earliest date when the International Longshore and
Warehouse
Union (ILWU) foreman’s local could legally go on
strike. A mediator has been appointed to oversee
negotiations, which are expected to begin during the week
of August 18.
The dispute is over monetary, jurisdictional and
operational issues.
