| Revised Canadian
import restrictions on USA animal products |

The
Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has revised the
precautionary restrictions implemented on a range of animal
related products imported from the U.S.

This revision includes:
Importation of products
from a rendering plant including
blood meal, meat and bone meal, spray dried blood and
feather meal, from any species including porcine or
avian from
the USA are also temporarily suspended. Examples
of these products include:
- fertilizers
- livestock, animal feeds containing rendered animal
proteins
- tallow
Commercially prepared pet food not containing bovine meat
or bovine derived ingredients is now on the list of exemptions.
USA origin milk, milk products, ruminant hide-derived
products and pet chews are examples of items that are not
subject to the import restrictions.
