| CN reaches
tentative agreements with CAW |

(Toronto,
January 23, 2004)… CN announced today it
has successfully negotiated tentative collective agreements
with the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) union.
Details of the new, three-year labour contracts, replacing
ones that expired Dec. 31, 2003, are being withheld, pending
ratification by approximately 5,000 CAW members, including
shopcraft forces, clerical workers and intermodal yard
employees.
Negotiations continue with six other CN unions representing
about 8,500 employees.
