| Port of Vancouver
hit by tug operators strike |
|
(Vancouver, April 20, 2004)
About
800 British Columbia tug and barge operators went on strike
on April 16th at the Port of Vancouver, in a move that
will affect shipping at Canada's Western ports. The strike
could shut down 75 percent of shipping operations in B.C.
The strike will have little effect on efforts by Canadian
Pacific Railway to clear a container backlog at Vancouver.
It is unclear what effect the strike would have on Canadian
National Railway, which serves at Deltaport. Expect service
disruptions on import and export containers.
