| HS Tariffs Mandatory for Southbound Shipments |
|
(Toronto, September 27, 2004)
Effective October 1, 2004 all shipments crossing into the USA from Canada must contain the full 10-digit U.S. Harmonized System Tariff Classification number for all line items on the commercial invoice.
Shipments exported from or via Canada without the required 10-digit classification will be refused entry until all of the required codes are provided. Shipments will also not be permitted to travel in-bond to an in-land customs office without all of the required HS Tariff Classifications.
To avoid delays and additional charges, do not ship to the USA without the required HS Tariff Classifications stated on the commercial invoices.
