| Public service employees return to work |
|
(Toronto, October 15, 2004)
The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and the government have reached a tentative agreement for the Administrative and Program Support Group that represents approximately 80,000 workers.
Picket lines at border locations have been dismantled and employees have returned to work. However, the strike will not officially be over until the new agreement is ratified by the PSAC membership.
PSAC officials are not in support of the proposed agreement and are recommending that the union members vote to reject the offer. The voting can take up to six weeks. If members reject the offer they could be back on the picket lines around Christmas.
Until the vote has been completed the PSAC has advised it's members to work-to-rule.
