 Deltaport B.C. terminal back-up grows

(Vancouver, November 23, 2004)… Approximately 3,300 import containers for CN Rail ( 91,400' ) and 360 import containers for CP Rail ( 11,000' ) are now on the Deltaport Terminal in British Columbia.  Local delivery imports on the terminal, normally between 800 - 900 containers at this time of week, have doubled to 1,700 containers.

To expedite the receipt and delivery of intermodal traffic, the terminal operators have given priority to rail operations over vessel operations, and are considering further actions, including a restriction on the return of empty containers by truck and/or a temporary suspension of the Port of Vancouver Priority Berthing Guidelines.

Expect delays due to this situation on cargo arriving/departing via the west coast.
