| Vancouver cartage strike affects local container traffic |

(Vancouver, June 29, 2005)… More than one thousand container hauliers, serving the Vancouver ports are on strike. The general consensus is that it will take several days to work out an agreement. A federal arbitrator – acceptable to both parties – is being sought.
Containers moving by rail and long distance truck moves have not been affected by this action. If the strike continues, a gridlock could develop that would likely affect both of these movements.
