| Carriers begin port diversions due to Vancouver strike situation |
|
(Vancouver, July 13, 2005)
Port diversions have commenced for some local Vancouver cargo, in an attempt to keep the terminals functional and allow for the continuation of intermodal rail movements.
Although the Vancouver terminals have stated they are discharging and loading vessels normally, containers continue to pile up because of the ongoing strike by local truck drivers.
If the strike continues, TSI Terminal Systems, which operates both Deltaport and Vanterm, has stated it will stop accepting local import containers on July 18.
