Greater Toronto Area (GTA) Owner/Operator Dispute Update

(Toronto, September 27, 2005)… Despite an agreement being reached between GTA trucking companies and the CCA – Container Carriers Association, truck operations in the GTA have not returned to normal.  Many trucking companies in the GTA have ceased all container haulage functions, as a group of owner operators have rejected the agreement and are still protesting at various container terminals in Toronto.

Many owner operators that are not involved in the ongoing protests, are refusing to work due to threats of violence and property damage.

Certain GTA trucking companies are still operating, however many have implemented strike surcharge fees, which are additional to regular container haulage fees.

We will continue to update on this situation.
