Greater Toronto Area (GTA) Owner/Operator Dispute Update
(Toronto, October 17, 2005)… Truck operations in the GTA have finally returned to normal, after the recent owner/operators protest. Protests at various GTA container terminals have ceased, and the movement of containers in the GTA is no longer affected by this labour action.
The agreement reached between the GTA trucking companies and the CCA – Container Carriers Association has resulted in rate increases, for local and out of town container deliveries.
The majority of cartage companies began implementing rate increases the week of October 10, 2005. As a result Universal Logistics has updated all container delivery rates to reflect this increase, effective October 10, 2005.
