CN network continues to operate despite strike
  by United Transportation Union

(Montreal, February 12, 2007)… CN reports that its network is operating smoothly, with management personnel taking the place of striking members of the United Transportation Union (UTU).  Operations at the Ports of Vancouver, Montreal and Halifax have not been affected, and there have been no reported disruptions in rail or terminal operations at CN terminals.

UTU members began a work stoppage at 0001 EST on Saturday, February 10, 2007, after a wage agreement offered by the UTU was rejected by CN, which believes the demand is out of line with private sector settlements.

Excluded from the strike action are UTU members on CN's Northern Quebec Internal Short Line, Algoma Central Railway in Northern Ontario, and Mackenzie Northern Railway in northern Alberta.

CN and the UTU are maintaining normal operations on CN's commuter rail operations in Toronto and Montreal.

More updates will be issued as the situation evolves.
