(Montreal, February 26, 2007) Striking CN employees returned to work Saturday, following the signing of a tentative agreement between CN and the United Transportation Union (UTU), a day after federal government introduced back-to-work legislation in the House of Commons.
The deal, which has prompted some bitterness within the union, still has to be ratified on or before March 26. According to one union official, the agreement is nothing more than a one-year extension of the current collective agreement and does not address any of the concerns or issues that the UTU have been fighting for.
We will continue to monitor this situation and advise accordingly. For more information, please call (905) 882-4880 David Lychek, Manager – Ocean Services.
