Strike by CP track maintenance workers begins tonight

(Toronto, May 15, 2007)… Some 3,000 CP track maintenance workers have announced that they are going on strike tonight. Industry observers say the action is not expected to have a significant impact as the striking workers are not directly involved in the operation of trains.  Union leaders, in contrast, said that service disruptions are inevitable.

A CP spokesperson says the company will take the necessary steps to maintain its tracks for the duration of the job action.

We will continue to monitor this situation and advise accordingly.  For more information, please call (905) 882-4880 David Lychek, Manager - Ocean & Air Services.
