Inbound and outbound freight delayed by CN Rail problems
(Toronto, February 19, 2008)… Severe weather in Western & Eastern Canada, coupled with a number of recent derailments in Ontario, have delayed CN Rail inbound & outbound containerized shipments.
The fundamental problem is that some trains have been delayed or completely stopped. As a result, some export shipments have missed scheduled sailings from Vancouver, Halifax and Montreal. The resulting shortage of empty cars (which become available as export containers are emptied) is delaying the transport of import containers.
