(Toronto, June 12, 2008) In response to skyrocketing fuel prices, hauliers around the world are engaging in protests and work stoppages, leading to serious disruptions in the supply chain. In Spain, 90,000 truck drivers have disrupted business operations by blocking major highways.
A similar situation has developed in Korea, where transport workers have gone on strike, an action that is affecting 20% of all container traffic at major ports. Additional protests are being reported in the Far East and India. There are fears these actions could spread to other countries.
