(Montreal, June 18, 2008) Responding to record high fuel prices, Air Canada is reducing passenger capacity by 7.0 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2008 and first quarter of 2009. Since a reduction in passenger capacity also means there will be a reduction in cargo capacity, it is advisable to book freight as soon as possible. If fuel prices remain at current levels – or go higher – additional capacity reductions are expected.
Air Canada has already announced the suspension of Toronto-Rome non-stop service (with resumption planned for the peak summer season) and the withdrawal of Vancouver-Osaka non-stop service, effective October 26, 2008.
