British Columbia port workers continue negotiations

(Vancouver, December 31, 2008)… Negotiations between members of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU), and the British Columbia Maritime Employers Association (BCMEA) are continuing, thereby postponing a work stoppage originally scheduled to take place on January 2, 2009.

Both parties are set to resume talks, with Federally appointed mediators, on Saturday, January 3.

As of December 30, the parties have been in a 72 hour legal strike/lockout position.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely, and update accordingly.
