| Agreement ends strike threat at West Coast ports |
|
(Vancouver, March 10, 2009)
The B.C. Maritime Employers Association and the International Longshore and Warehouse Union have ratified a collective agreement, averting a costly strike.
While the dispute involved only 450 workers, there were fears that as many as 5,000 other workers would walk off the job in support, leading to a major disruption of the ports along Canada's Pacific Coast.
