| Halifax port workers sign labour agreement |
|
(Halifax, March 26, 2009)
Halifax longshoremen have ratified a new collective agreement with the Halifax Employers Association. The three year agreement, reached March 12, continues the long tradition of stable labour relations at the Port of Halifax and the fact that the parties have been able to work through their differences without resorting to conciliation.
For importers & exporters the agreement will provide stability at the Port of Halifax, ensuring the uncompromised movement of cargo via the port. Coupled with the recent agreement signed by British Columbia port workers, both East & West Coast ports are now positioned to provide dependable & efficient freight movement over the coming years.
