  Winter storm disrupts UK freight

(Toronto, January 8, 2010)… A huge winter storm is creating havoc for the UK transportation industry.  Many roads, railways and airports are either closed or operating with limitations, a direct result of the severe weather or the inability of staff to get to work.

Latest reports indicate that Gatwick, Heathrow, Luton and Stansted airports are open, but delays and cancellations are expected.  The same applies to Southampton, Birmingham, Glasgow and Cardiff airports.

Dublin airport remains open, but a number of flights were cancelled. The Port of Felixstowe opened temporarily, but was subsequently closed due to high winds and snow.

Delays of outbound freight from the UK are likely.
