Labor dispute at Port of Montreal ends, operations to resume tomorrow
(Toronto, July 23, 2010) Operations at The Port of Montreal are expected to resume this coming Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m.
The port shutdown on Monday (July 19) after longshoremen and their employers engaged in a labor dispute (primarily related to job security and a pay guarantee program) that was resolved yesterday evening with the help of a federal mediator. A leader of the longshoremen’s union said there was no doubt that the union will ratify the new work agreement.
