Operations at key Chinese ports disrupted by oil spill
(Toronto, July 26, 2010) Departures from Dalian's Xingang Harbor have been delayed by a major oil spill that developed following an oil pipeline explosion. It is expected that sailings will call at Dalian port approximately 10 days beyond the posted shipping schedule and the ETD will be delayed in turn. Delays of several days are also expected for sailings from Qingdao and Xingang port. Workers are using oil skimmers and dispersants to prevent the spread of the oil slick, which now extends about 100 square kilometres offshore.
Updates will be provided as the situation develops.
