How to minimize forecasted delays during the 2012 Chinese New Year
(Toronto, December 28, 2011) Major carriers serving the Transpacific Trade lane are forecasting that in January 2012 there is a strong possibility of vessel cancellations, rollovers and tight container space due to the Chinese New Year holiday period which runs from January 22 to 28, 2012.
It is recommended that your suppliers and associates make booking arrangements for impending shipments as early as possible to avoid delays. In addition, shippers should place their bookings at least 10 days prior to vessel departure time.
Other recommended steps include:
make early arrangements on original bills of lading to avoid any storage charges
where feasible, arrange express B/Ls or telex release to prevent any stress or late deliveries and storage fees
