Canada signs bilateral trade agreement with Indonesia - Universal Logistics Trade Alerts - September 30, 2025

Toronto, September 30, 2025

In a joint statement, Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney and President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto announced the signing of the Canada-Indonesia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).

This free trade agreement, expected to come into force in 2026, will eliminate or reduce tariff and non-tariff barriers in Canada’s first-ever bilateral trade agreement with an Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) country.

In a separate statement, PM Mark Carney stated, “Once the CEPA is fully implemented, over 95% of current Canadian exports to Indonesia will have tariffs either reduced or fully eliminated…”.
