US President Trump’s increased Reciprocal Tariffs were to go into effect today, following a 90-day pause on April 9th. However, those tariffs have been postponed until 12:01 a.m. EDT August 1, 2025, and will continue to be subject to the following Harmonized Tariff Schedule heading, and additional ad valorem duty rate:
9903.01.25: Articles the product of any country, except for products described in headings 9903.01.26-9903.01.33, and except as provided for in heading 9903.01.34, will be assessed an additional ad valorem duty rate of 10%.
As per a Fact Sheet issued by President Trump, starting August 1st, many countries will be subject to new reciprocal tariff rates. In some instances, countries will be subject to a revised reciprocal tariff rate that is lower than the rate initially announced on April 2nd. For others, the reciprocal tariff rate may be higher than the previous rate.
The following countries rates have been issued so far:
- Japan (25%)
- Korea (25%)
- South Africa (30%)
- Kazakhstan (25%)
- Laos (40%)
- Malaysia (25%)
- Myanmar (40%)
- Tunisia (25%)
- Bosnia and Herzegovina (30%)
- Indonesia (32%)
- Bangladesh (35%)
- Serbia (35%)
- Cambodia (36%)
- Thailand (36%)
Separate from the above, the country specific rate for products of China, including Hong Kong and Macau, continue to be suspended until August 12, 2025, and are subject to an additional ad valorem duty rate of 10%. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
Goods that fall under Annex II and the Reciprocal Tariff Exclusion for Specified Products continue to be exempt from these IEEPA Reciprocal Tariffs.
