The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) have advised that CBSA strike action has been averted, as a tentative agreement has been reached with the Treasury Board of Canada.
As per PSAC’s post on “X” (formerly Twitter): “PSAC-CIU have reached a tentative agreement with the employer for more than 9,000 workers at CBSA, avoiding potential job action at Canada’s borders.”
The Treasury Board of Canada also issued a statement announcing the tentative agreement.
The Border Services Group is comprised of approximately 11,000 positions at the CBSA that are primarily involved in the planning, development, delivery, or management of the inspection and control of people and goods entering Canada. 9,500 members of the Borders Services Group are represented.
The tentative agreement (which still needs to be ratified by members) avoids a strike by the CBSA that was set to begin on Wednesday, June 12th.
