CARM: What all importers need to know about CARM

Terminology

S

Shipper’s Load, Stow & Count

A clause inserted on an ocean bill of lading by the steamship line when a container is positioned at the shipper’s premises for loading. This simply means the Steamship Line did not load the container, therefore, they cannot be held accountable for the contents.

Quick Tip #42
Carefully inspect all freight to identify deficiencies in packaging

Problems that seem small at the time of loading can get much worse in transit, sometimes resulting in damage to the entire load.
