CARM: What all importers need to know about CARM

Terminology

E

EXW, Ex Works

Under EXW Incoterms, the seller delivers when they place the goods at the disposal of the buyer at the seller’s premises or another named place (i.e: ex works, factory, warehouse, etc.) not cleared for export and not loaded on any collecting vehicle. (For a complete list of Incoterm definitions including a chart of buyer and seller responsibilities, see Universal’s Incoterms 2010.)

Quick Tip #57
When Incoterms are incomplete

The shipping term FOB (Free on Board) is incomplete when the port of shipment and country are omitted. Moreover, you could end up paying extra if an incorrect assumption (guess) is made about your port of shipment (many countries have multiple ports of shipment).
