Although the United Kingdom has decided (by a very narrow vote) to leave the European Union, it is not clear how the separation will proceed. Some are even suggesting that the decision could be reversed with a second referendum. It is also possible that the decision to separate could have devastating unintended consequences up to and including the break-up of the United Kingdom (one of many reasons why there is rising support for a second referendum). However, anyone concerned about the direct or indirect trade impacts of the Brexit decision would be well advised to take a wait-and-see approach as more developments are likely in the coming months.
